Feeling so blessed today. Woke up to find my son had decorated the family room for my Birthday! He sure knows me. He even made the sign with my favorite light blue shabby chic color. Husband & son are planning on treating me to dinner, talked to daughter, Catherine this morning. Feeling so thankful for such a wonderful family.
Oh! and Happy Halloween everyone!!

Create Inspiration Boards! (using thrift store bulletin boards)
A fun thing to do is to create your own inspiration and/or photo board(s). I purchased 2 large bulletin boards from thrift-stores for $3.00 @ piece, covered the cork, painted out the frames and created inspiration boards using favorite clippings, cards, notes and photos. I frequently move mine around the house and they always look pretty where-ever they end up. With your own favorite artwork, etc., they make a personal statement about YOU! Enjoy!

Wild about wicker!
Have always loved the punch that black wicker gives to a room. I have two little black wicker rockers (both a bit different) that I move around on a whim. Here are a few photos of the wicker pieces I have collected so far. (all found at thrift stores).
A little black wicker rocker & white wicker chair in our vacation cottage! |
Vintage rocker. So serene! |
Love the punch this black wicker rocker adds to an all white color scheme. |
So easy to move light-weight wicker around! |
This black wicker chaise has been moved around a zillion times. It's just a versatile piece. |
Airy white wicker! Love! |
Wicker adds to the casual feeling of a room. It is especially nice in a cottage setting. |
Vintage tins!
Vintage tins are easy to find at thrift-stores. I try to be selective, and choose only ones that go with my color palette or are a bit Victorian. They are not only pretty, but function nicely for storage. Here is a sampling.
Love the colors of this little tin chest! |

Sharing thrift treasures with family/friends via mail!
I love sharing this blog with my daughter. We hope that we are inspiring our readers to embrace the world of thrifting, and to come to enjoy the hunt as much as we do. Wish my daughter lived a bit closer. This morning I sent her a package with some thrift-store treasures that included: an adorable knit top, a little hummingbird magnet as she loves birds, and a Brides magazine. She is engaged to a wonderful guy, so thought this magazine would be fun for her. Also, included a vintage reproduction GWTW photo card. Putting together a little package for a friend or family member (with vintage inspired items found at thrift-stores) is oh so fun!
Hope you enjoy these items Cat! Miss ya!........

Vintage Tiger-wood Book-case!
A book-case doesn't have to be used for books. I bought this tiger-wood book-case several years ago at a consignment shop. While this piece has held books, dishes, crystal etc., I currently use it in my hallway to hold towels, extra linens and a few pillows. Love it for this purpose!

Ironstone and white crockery!
Ironstone pitchers, bowls, tureens, and white crockery are easy to come by at thrift-stores. If you need items to put above kitchen cabinetry, they provide an eye-catching neutral display. Here's a peek at my collection.
