Making room for a vanity!

Have always enjoyed a separate vanity place for applying make-up. My vanity area is now in our spare bedroom. You can carve out your own space with some simple steps. Look for either a fold-up table or sturdy piece of furniture such as an old desk at thrift store. Make sure the table/furniture piece fits your space. Add all of your "girlie" essentials for making the space functional. i.e.) mirrors, lamps etc.  I am now using a white fold up table that I found while thrifting. I topped my table with a piece of marble for an elegant look.  Love this space.

The beauty of the "Dogwood" tree!

Have been busy with work lately, and have not had time to thrift. Am hoping to change that over the week-end.  I am fortunate to work from my home office, and this time of year I have a lovely view of the Dogwoods which are in full bloom. Here are a few pics.

The color is truly awe-inspiring!

Beautiful!

Shabby Blue Mirror!

Over the weekend, purchased this shabby chic blue mirror at an antique mall. The dealer was going out of business & everything in her booth was 50% off. Love the touch of blue it provides.

As my slip-covers are the light blue "British Rose" from Rachel Ashwell's former line, the mirror coordinates perfectly!

Love the intricate frame design as well as the shabby finish!

Voila! One accessory can really compliment a room!

"Blinged out" clear costmetic bag!

Purchased this little rhinestone dotted cosmetic bag at a street fair last year. Love that it is made of tough clear plastic, and that you can see through it.. I think I paid $2.00 or $3.00 for it. It is one of my favorite things.

My favorite cosmetic bag!

Love being able to see through it, and not have to scrounge for the one item that you often need.

Swap out sofa cushions with ruffled shams! .....& new club chair slips!

Swapped out the back cushions of my sofa with (european) ruffled shams. These large shams are easy to find at thrift stores. I have found flowered ones, striped ones and ruffled white ones while out thrifting. Sometimes a subtle change can have a big impact.

Love how the sham ruffles peak out from the back!

Love this space. Not saccharine, just cozy and inviting!

Over the holiday break I also ordered two ruffled slip-covers for my $5.00 thrift store club chairs. The slip-covers are so wonderful. When they get a bit soiled, I just pop them in the washer. While some say that white is impractical, I find white slip-covers to be easy to care for and in fact very practical!
