Hand bag with vintage handles (from pajamas!)

In a recent post, I shared pics of travel pillows that I covered with pretty slipcovers made from pajama bottoms (purchased at thrift-store).  As I still had the top portion of the pj bottoms that I could use, I sewed a hand bag from the fabric, added a vintage liner and pretty vintage wooden handles.  The bag turned out so cute. I love it! Here are some photos.

Am crazy for the floral print flannel fabric!

The vintage lining I used is a pretty vintage shade of green.

I found these vintage wooden handles a long time ago at the thrift store, knowing that I would eventually find the right fabric to make a handbag. So fun!

Faux Pansies!

Am up at our vacation cottage for a few days. As I will only be here briefly, it doesn't make sense to purchase fresh flowers. When I am yearning for flowers and it is not practical to buy fresh ones, I resort to some of my faux flowers that I keep on hand. I don't like many fake flowers, but here are some pics of my faux pansies that always seem to be a good substitute.

These are the lightest pink faux pansies. Bought these at a thrift store for .25cents. I love them! Also love the vintage thrift store vase! The grey bible to the left was also purchased at thrift-store for $1.00. Love always having a bible close by!

These faux pansies fit right into the shabby chic decor!

Living Room at our vacation cottage by the sea. Was a foggy day when I took this pic....so was difficult to see the ocean.

Stylish Necessities

Remember, thrift stores are the place to go to find necessities too.  I found a surplus of much needed items this winter break. Pictured below are just a few. My mom and I had so much fun thrifting together!  Oh, how much I miss her!!

Comfy PJ's are always needed. These are extra soft and warm. I've been wearing them all winter break. My mom was the one who spotted them. The knee socks were brand new. I couldn't resist the pattern. And it was just what I needed since I hadn't packed enough socks for my month long trip.  I also found jeggings, brand new.  I'm always on the lookout for a variety of stylish leggings. Finally, my greatest find/necessity of all..... UGGs! These were in perfect shape and practically brand new. What girl doesn't need a new pair of UGGs in the middle of winter! I was thrilled.

Comfy PJ's are always needed!
Long socks will keep me warm the rest of the winter!
And they're so cute!!
UGGs in great condition!
Jeggings - new w/tags!
Ready for school - It was 9 degrees that day! Keeping warm and staying stylish with my new items.

Vintage Color Tinted Photographs!

Feel so lucky to have some old vintage colored photos of both my parents as well as my husband's parents. The color tinting is just so beautiful! More importantly, these photos are precious to our family and real treasures to cherish forever! All of the frames in the photos below are thrift store frames. They are easy to find at thrift-stores, and usually only around a few dollars or so.

Our family enjoys these beautiful photos every day!

My very pretty Mama!

My very handsome Daddy!

I sometimes switch these photos up. Here they are  in the family room along with other family vintage photos.

My husband's parents.......love these photos!

Pillow slips from Pajamas!

Found a cute print flannel pajama bottom that was 3 or 4 sizes too big at the thrift-store. Purchased it for $1.00 as the print was so pretty. Stitched up two little travel/sofa pillow slips out of the fabric. Love how they turned out!

Two pretty pillow slips....stitched up in no time! Perfect for small travel pillows!

The bottom of the pajama legs provide an already completed hem trim to the pillow slips!

Sewed three little mother of pearl buttons on the ends for detail! Of course, thrift store buttons! :)

Love the designer detail of the mother of pearl buttons! And the pretty rose print!

Ready for travel or to scatter here and there....all around the house!

A few more pops of blue! (thrift-store finds)

Here are a few recent thrift-store finds that provide that pop of blue color that I love!

Love the pretty blue rhinestones in this necklace!

Love hanging pretty jewelry pieces here or there!

I never buy cards anywhere except thrift-stores. You can find brand new beautiful cards for .25-30 cents.

Wild about satin hangers! (new ones)

Over the week-end, I found more pretty satin hangers for .25 cents @ piece. One of the beautiful things about thrifting, is that you can come home with treasures for less than $1.00. Where else can you do that?

Have quite a collection now. Pink, blue, green, cream, flowered. etc.

Love this little set of pink checkered baby hangers. 3 for $1.00.

Makes walking into my laundry room (or walking past the laundry room) a delight!

Linen Euro Shams!

Found these pretty rose printed euro shams at the flea market for $4.00 @ piece. What a bargain! It is so fun to have a variety of pillow covers/shams to switch out when you feel like it. Love these!

These euro-shams are by Ralph Lauren, but blend in nicely with my shabby chic pieces.

The petticoat pillow is one of my core pieces. This was a Christmas gift a few years ago from my hubby!

I love to pile up pillows almost anywhere!

Little wooden "odds & ends" box!

Over the week-end, went to a monthly flea market that I never miss. Purchased this little shabby chic wooden box for odds & ends! Love the shabby blue paint color. Will settle on a place for this somewhere!

Love this little shabby painted box!

May use it on entry way table  for cards, mail, etc.

Also makes a nice little container for candles!

Shabby but charming!

I have a lot of blue in my family room, so it just may end up here for odds & ends!

Have a great week everyone!

Window Box Planter Stands (now living room side table).

Years ago, I purchased some black stand alone window box stands at  a thrift store. Yesterday, I  painted them out white, brought them indoors and added a marble top to make a narrow side table for the living room. Love how it turned out. A nice little change to my living room for the new year!

Little shelves on the bottom are nice for books/magazines.

The marble goes nicely with the vintage mirrors!

Love the designer dress details of the back of my slipcover. Had this made several years ago after finding a pic of a similar one in a magazine. Have wrapped some white sheets around the back cushions to save on frequency of dry-cleaning.

Another view from the hallway!

Pink flowers reflected in the mirror!

Realized after looking at the photo, that everything except the slipcovers & a few pillows came from thrift-stores. Mirrors, lamps, tables, marble, candles, trays, books, vase etc....... Love thrift-store finds.

Pink GUESS Shirt

I was so happy to find this GUESS shirt.  I'll probably wear it with both leggings and jeans like in the pictures here.  It's also really nice because you can take off or leave on the belt for a different look.
